The Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League were pretty bad for a very long time. From 1982-'96 the team had a combined record of 83-163, which is the equivalent of losing two out of every three games. It wasn't until head coach Tony Dungy came around and things started turning around in Tampa Bay. Dungy brought a great defensive scheme to the team and they started winning. From '97-'01 Dungy and the Bucs won 48 games. The team constantly challenged for NFC Championships, but the offense could never do enough to get them over the hump.
Enter new head coach Jon Gruden. Gruden was previously with the Oakland Raiders where he enjoyed an incredible amount of success based mainly on his offensive schemes. The Buccaneers actually traded draft picks for Gruden and it paid off the first season he was there. He led them to their first ever Super Bowl where they faced off against, his former employer, the Oakland Raiders. It was a complete donkey stomp of the Raiders. The inside information that Gruden had on his former offense was too much for the Raiders to handle. He was the scout team quarterback, helping his team prepare for the Oakland offense. With this knowledge the Buccaneer defense intercepted five passes, three of them were returned for touchdowns.
The offense is now powered by their running back Carnell "Cadillac" Williams. The defense is still a mainstay in the Tampa Bay scheme. They are led by veterans Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber.
