The Pepsi Center, located at 1000 Chopper Place, Denver, CO 80204, was finished in 1999 and is the home of the Denver Nuggets of the NBA and Colorado Avalanche of the NHL. The Pepsi Center cost $160 million to construct and Pepsi will pay almost $70 for the naming rights to the stadium. Financing for the stadium came from private loans, sales tax raises, and property tax exemptions. There is available parking for 4,200 automobiles and the nearest airport is a mere 25 miles from the Pepsi Center. The Pepsi Center also has 95 luxury suites and more than 1,800 club level seats for the fans to choose from. The Nuggets have retired four numbers into their hall of fame: Alex English (#2), David Thompson (#33), Byron Beck (#40), and Dan Issel (#44). Issel also went on to coach the Nuggets for a few years in the 1990s. The Colorado Avalanche also play in the Pepsi Center and have won a Stanley Cup Championship in 2001 while playing in the Pepsi Center. The Avalanche are annually among the top teams in the NHL and the Nuggets are full of potential and should challenge for a top spot in the NBA playoffs so the fans of Denver are always treated to a solid performance from the players in the Pepsi Center.
