Peyton Manning is the unquestioned star and leader of the Colts, and it’s fair to say that if the team wins a title in the next 5-10 years, it will be because Peyton took them there. He’s already become recognized as one of the top players in all of football. The other star of the offensive duo is wide out “Marvelous” Marvin Harrison. He’s averaged more than 10 scores a year including almost 12.5 a year over the last 5 seasons. The team will have some trouble filling the void that Edgerrin James left with his departure to the Arizona Cardinals. The Colts hope that Dominic Rhodes or Joseph Addai can come in and make them forget about the loss of Edge.
The team may have lost the most accurate kicker in NFL history, Mike Vanderjagt, but they brought in the most clutch kicker in NFL history, Adam Vinatieri. The team will also miss the services of David Thornton, but they feel that Cato June and Gilbert Gardener will be adequate in filling that void.
Head Coach Tony Dungy signed with Indianapolis in 2002 and brought his winning defensive philosophy to a team that was solely known for its high-powered offense. Dungy has managed to improve the defense every year through free agency and the draft, and has turned the Colts into a legitimate Super Bowl every season.
